Longer days have opened up our stream of progress with MOTR. Flutter and I have been working late into the evenings and early on the weekends with our latest round of updates to The Rescue machine. We also found time to enjoy the fresh air, play outside, and take in the extra sunshine while working.
The water leaking into the interior with heavy rains has been resolved. All is dry and safe to move forward working on the electrical system.
We’ve updated the interior from the 80’s beige color scheme and chose flat white for a cleaner look on all the walls. We also cut new rubber liners for all the shelves and trimmed each section with LED strips. Each cabinet is on its own strand, and they all have a sound trigger setting. It was a pleasant surprise to notice that different shelves pick up on different frequencies. You could see the bottom shelf picking up the kick drum while the top right shelf would hear more of the high hat or snare.
Flutter and I placed our “heart/noise” emblem big and bold on both sides of the ambulance. We worked together using an old school overhead projector to cast a laser cut image of the emblem. I took my time measuring size and placement to carefully plan how the image would present on both sides. We traced the shadow and then taped off the outline. It was a major moment for us to see the ambulance this way. It’s not just an idea. It’s real.
With the help we’ve received from our supporters, we have improved our safety rating by replacing the side mirrors. It was not easy driving without the driver side mirror, and dangerous, because I need to see what might get run over if I move. Also, the old convex mirrors were rusted out and fell off on both sides, so those had to be replaced as well. Thankfully we are more road safe with this purchase. We are grateful. <3
Here are some photos of the progress we made over the last month.

Last weekend the ambulance received an audio upgrade. It still had the original 1986 cassette deck which kind of worked, but not well. The door speakers were trashed, having little range or push left. It was barely audible with the engine running, just overall poor sound quality.
