It’s just shy of a year since we bought the ambulance and came up with this crazy idea. So, we felt it was time to take photos that could help us start realizing our vision for MOTR. One major goal was getting the ambulance to the beautiful lakefront in Racine.
Zetsumei had a lot on his mind. Our mechanic Nick was working hard to have the ambulance running well enough for the shoot. There were vacuum leaks and manifold gaskets to be replaced. The plan was to bring it back to the shop to complete the work when we had our photos. It really couldn’t go farther than a few miles, and the lake is only three miles away. When our photographer arrived, Zetsumei was still doing last-minute adjustments to the idle so it could make the short trip without stalling.
Beforehand we took some pictures in our woods at home.
We were thrilled (and relieved) when our synthbulance made it to the lake!
Waves splashed up against us as we stood right next to Lake Michigan, careful not to drop our Korg Monologues into the water. After having a celebratory dinner with our photographer Patrick, we went back to the woods for one last idea.
The sun had set, which gave us a chance to capture the beauty in shadows. There was a sense of calm as sparklers lit up the darkness to complete our photo session.

All the back and forth to the mechanic has got us thinking deeply about why we put so much effort into MOTR. It's been a little over a year since our initial spark of inspiration for this idea.

Longer days have opened up our stream of progress with MOTR. Flutter and I have been working late into the evenings and early on the weekends with our latest round of updates to The Rescue machine.
Despite the challenges of fixing the ambulance, we think we've gotten to the heart of the matter. Recently "The Rescue" went through a sort of heart surgery as main aspects of it got mended. A lot of progress has been made but there is still more work to be done.
The get bEHIND the aRTS Studio Tour is a chance for Southeastern Wisconsin artists to open their doors to their neighbors and share what creativity is going on in the area. We were thrilled to be invited to introduce our MOTR project at the preview party kicking off the tour, now in its ninth year.
The Rescue is back in our driveway after getting some crucial upgrades. Special thanks to our team of mechanics at Meineke.
We've been looking forward to Knobcon 2018 all year, and now we are less than two weeks away from the big weekend in Schaumburg, IL! It's the world's ONLY synthesizer convention.
As of August 3, 2018 we are the owners of an ambulance we call "The Rescue." It's from the good ol' year of 1986 and in need of some TLC.

Last weekend the ambulance received an audio upgrade. It still had the original 1986 cassette deck which kind of worked, but not well. The door speakers were trashed, having little range or push left. It was barely audible with the engine running, just overall poor sound quality.
